Welcome, I’m Katherine
Shining a Light on Addiction and Inspiring Hope.
My writing, characterized by brutal honesty and deep empathy, resonates with many who struggle with addiction and the societal pressures that often accompany it. Through my work, I aim to shed light on the realities of addiction and offer a message of hope and resilience.
A little about me…
I’m a mother of five, a prominent quit lit writer, and an addiction recovery advocate living just outside Kansas City, Missouri. With ten years of sobriety under my belt, I’ve transformed my personal journey into a beacon of hope for others.
Originally from Virginia, I was raised as a proper southern girl. However, life took a challenging and unexpected turn when I found myself struggling through the grips of a disease I knew little about- alcoholism. After an 8 year marriage and three beautiful children, a highly contentious and emotional divorce would ensue. My children stayed with their father while I went to rehab. My worst nightmares were coming true. My fears-all realized. Hope-there wasn’t any. Alcohol use disorder had taken over my life-but that wasn’t the end of my story-not by a long a shot. Thank God for second chances.
I’m inspired every day by my children—Sumner, Witt, Woods, Waylon, and Macklin—and the vibrant community around me. My husband, Matthew, has been my rock throughout this journey. I swear I love him more than the day I married him 11 years ago. Together, we’ve embraced the joy of sober living, proving that recovery is possible and life after addiction can be beautiful.
Join me on this journey as I continue to advocate for those in recovery and share my story to inspire and uplift others.
Get to Know me More… Fun Facts
Hey there! Want to know a bit more about me? Here are some fun facts:
My family…
My journey through sobriety has been a family affair, and my children and husband are my biggest supporters. They are thrilled to see my transformation and eagerly join me in my mission to spread positivity and light through the often dark and lonely road of addiction recovery.
Our family is tightly knit, with a shared love for the Kansas City Chiefs, Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and the Royals. We cherish lazy summer afternoons spent exploring the beautiful sights and experiences Kansas City has to offer. From visiting parks and enjoying local events to sports and family dinners, every moment together is precious.
Alcoholism has the potential to tear families apart, but my story is a testament to the fact that it doesn’t have to. Through sobriety, I have found strength, and clarity, making the challenges of toddler wrangling a bit easier without the haze of a hangover. Our family stands united, demonstrating that through love and support, overcoming even the toughest battles is possible.
